We asked Eva Illouz, a leading international sociologist who researches how emotional life has been transformed by capitalism and by the culture of modernity. She is a professor of Sociology at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and director of studies at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (School for Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences) in Paris. Eva Illouz received the Humboldt Foundation’s Anneliese Maier Research Award in 2013.
